SUMMARY:Workshop - Time Management for Researchers
DESCRIPTION:Do less. Do it faster. Time it right. These are the three core components of effective time management in academia. In this workshop\, we will explore strategies for doing less\, that is\, prioritizing what truly matters and defending those priorities against competing demands. We will discuss how to work faster by unlocking efficiency gains and finding a sustainable balance between pragmatism and perfectionism. And we will look at ways to time it right by setting up productive routines that align fluctuating cognitive energy with the right kinds of tasks. To support real and lasting change\, we will also review evidence-based approaches for building new habits and routines. A key focus will be identifying methods that work well for you and finding practical ways to transfer them sustainably into your own work context. \nTrainer: Daniel Friedrich (Impuls Plus) \n\n\n\n\nDate: Friday\, 24 April 2026\nTime: 10 am – 6 pm\nLocation: Seminar Room 5.10\, Von-Seckendorff-Platz 1 (Heide Süd Campus)\, 06120 Halle (Saale) \n\n\n\nRegister here!\n\n\n\n\nTarget group: Doctoral candidates \nPreparation: Participants will need to complete a brief time-tracking exercise before the workshop to provide a basis for reflection and discussion. \nContents in Brief: \n\nPrioritizing\nDefending priorities against competing demands\nWorking faster: Tools and strategies\nFinding a balance between pragmatism and perfectionism\nThe right time for the task\nSelf-management & implementing behavioral change\n\n\n\nMethods: \n\nTheoretical input\nSelf-reflection\nPartner and group exercises\nPlenum discussion\n\n\nThe number of participants in the workshop is limited to 15 participants. \nThe event is specifically organized for doctoral candidates of the PROTEOFORuM. SUMMARY:Workshop - Getting Started. The path to a successful doctorate
DESCRIPTION:The workshop ‘Getting Started. The path to a successful doctorate’ focuses on the critical elements for a successful doctoral journey: Which mindsets\, tools\, and processes make a real difference on the way to a PhD? We concentrate on three areas: The efficient organization of tasks and notes\, the productive communication with supervisors and the research community\, and the structured reading and writing of academic papers. Additionally\, the workshop will introduce techniques for self-management to support productivity and well-being throughout the PhD journey. The specific agenda will be tailored to the interests of the participants to ensure the content is relevant and particular emphasis will be placed on strategies for participants to successfully transfer learnings from this workshop to their own work context. \nTrainer: Daniel Friedrich (Impuls Plus) \n\n\n\n\nDate: Monday\, 14 July 2025\nTime: 10 am – 6 pm\nLocation: Seminar Room 0.03\, Von-Seckendorff-Platz 1 (Heide Süd Campus)\, 06120 Halle (Saale) \n\n\n\nRegister here!\n\n\n\n\nTarget group: Doctoral students in the first year of their PhD \nContents in Brief: \nOrganisation of tasks & notes: \n\nTools and processes for practical and effective task management\nUse of modern knowledge management methods in research\nCreating space for one’s own research / defending one’s own boundaries\n\nProductive exchange: \n\n\nApproaches to getting productive and diverse feedback\nExpanding the scientific network\nDealing with critical feedback\n\nReading/writing: \n\nDaily work routines for highly concentrated work\nPractical tips and tricks for efficient writing\nStrategies for efficient handling of scientific literature\n\nSelf-management: \n\nFinding a balance between pragmatism and perfectionism\nStaying motivated\nMethods for implementing behavior change\n\n\nMethods: \n\nTheoretical input\nSelf-reflection\nPartner and group exercises\nPlenum discussion\n\n\nThe number of participants in the workshop is limited to 15 participants. \nThe event is specifically organized for doctoral candidates of the PROTEOFORuM.
