The highly interdisciplinary nature of the CRC requires extensive expertise in plant molecular biology, structural protein biochemistry and computational methods. Early career researchers (ECRs) will therefore need to acquire a broad understanding of all disciplines involved to efficiently progress in their project work.
The IRTG PROTEOFORuM will provide an infrastructure that:
- Promotes each ECR in their thesis work by expanding their individual skill set in all relevant disciplines.
- Ensures efficient progress of the interdisciplinary projects.
- Fosters interaction and collaboration among CRC individuals, groups and projects.
Unique features of the PROTEOFORuM graduate programme (tailor-made scientific training, laboratory rotations and interdisciplinary mentoring) in combination with established graduate programme modules (e.g., thesis advisory committees, transferrable skills training, etc.) are designed to efficiently prepare PhD students for project completion, timely graduation and future scientific careers. Postdocs are invited to attend the programme and expand their professional skills and knowledge. Furthermore, they will contribute to the educational programme, enriching it with complementary expertise.
The IRTG PROTEORORuM will be embedded in the existing infrastructure of the International Graduate Academy (InGrA) of MLU and the graduate programmes of the other institutions involved in the CRC (IPB https://www.ipb-halle.de/en/career/phd-program/, IPK https://www.ipk-gatersleben.de/en/career/graduate-programme, U Leipzig https://www.ga.uni-leipzig.de/en) which will provide support in all matters of the scientific and personal development as well as practical support.
