FAQs
The SNP2Prot team consists of doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and Principal Investigators (PIs), both with CRC-funded and independent backgrounds.
The membership provides access to all CRC benefits, including scientific and financial support (e.g., for travel, workshops, or guest invitations) as well as participation in the IRTG programme. At the same time, SNP2Prot expects commitment, engagement, and meaningful contributions in the interest of the entire community.
If you are interested in joining SNP2Prot, you have the following options:
1. Apply for a CRC-funded position
Open positions funded by the CRC are listed here: SNP2Prot Positions
[Currently no free vacancies!]
2. Become an associated member
Alternatively, researchers can apply for association with SNP2Prot: Please send a letter addressed to the CRC steering committee, stating your motivation to join SNP2Prot and describing the scientific relevance of your research to the CRC. Attach a short CV to your application and send all documents to the SNP2Prot office.

The opportunity of travel funding enables scientific exchange in the sense of knowledge transfer and networking and, moreover, facilitate collaborative work. In general, travel funds can be used to cover expenses such as transportation, accommodation, fees, and other costs related to lab visits, conference attendances, workshops or other CRC related purposes.
SNP2Prot members must announce their need for travel funding by March 31 of each year. The granting of travel funding is based on the total requirement. The allocation of the CRC's central travel funds is decided every year. In order to ensure a fair distribution of the central budget over the entire funding period, any funds already used and trips already made will be taken into account.
The rules of the MLU apply to the payment of travel expenses for employees or MLU-external SNP2Prot members: 'Grundlagen zu Reisekosten '
For the payment of travel expenses via central funds of the CRC, send the required documents (invoices, Reisekostenabrechnung, business trip application, etc.) to the SNP2Prot office.
If you are not familiar with MLU travel regulations and reimbursement processes, it's recommended to contact MLU travel department or SNP2Prot office before registering or booking.

SNP2Prot financially supports the opportunity to get in touch with collaborators and external TAC members on-site. It is expected that the visit will be combined with a talk as part of the SNP2Prot Colloquium Series, if possible. If appropriate, the guest may stay with the CRC group for a short period of up to several weeks, e.g., to provide long-term assistance and lab trainings. SNP2Prot central budget can be requested to cover expenses such as transportation, accommodation, and other costs related to the visits.

Invited speakers of the SNP2Prot Colloquium Series can be invited by the host to a speaker dinner. The CRC covers the costs of speaker dinners up to a maximum of 150 euros. This amount includes expenses for the host, the invited guest, and additional CRC members present (PIs or ECRs).
The process of reimbursement is only possible from CRC to MLU employees!
For the reimbursement, the following documents are required:- Formless approval of SNP2Prot office- List of participants- Original receipt- Completed form of reimbursement: Bargeld_Erstattung.doc
The described process is based on the current regulations at MLU and needs to be adapted accordingly if changes occur.

In principle, software and IT hardware is defined as general equipment and as such cannot be purchased using CRC budget. Only in exceptional cases if the software/hardware is clearly project specific, the agreement of DFG can be requested (via SNP2Prot office) to cover such expenses through CRC project funds.
In the CRC, student assistants can provide support for scientific projects and at the same time benefit from the CRC network and expertise. Each project can request the support of student assistants and the corresponding funding from central CRC budget. The need for student assistants (HiWis) should possibly be expressed in January of each year or even earlier at the SNP2Prot office.
The conditions (working hours) under which student assistants can be hired depend on the overall need for support and the salary level of the student (Bachelor or Master's student). An employment for one year, or at least six months is recommended. Adjustments to the duration of employment are possible with justification from the candidate's perspective.
Independent of their (intended) affiliation, all CRC related HiWis must be employed at MLU. In case of MLU external supervision, a cooperating PI from MLU must take on the responsibility during the hiring process and for collecting the monthly time sheets.

It is of essential importance to link CRC-funded publications to the CRC correctly.
Please use the following wording in the acknowledgement section:
“This research [or alternatively initials of PIs] was supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG—514901783) through the Collaborative Research Centre 1664 “Plant Proteoform Diversity—SNP2Prot” (project A02 [replace with your project ID(s)]).”
Inform the SNP2Prot office about any CRC-related publications. This ensures that the CRC publication list remains up to date.
SNP2Prot supports open-access publications and provides funding for publications.

To facilitate the design of posters, SNP2Prot provides a ppt-poster template. Nevertheless, project posters or presentations can be freely designed without predefined specifications from SNP2Prot. The only requirement is that the affiliation to SNP2Prot should be clearly recognisable through the use of the logo (see Downloads )
In addition, the DFG funding should be emphasized in the acknowledgements of presentations.
Note: SNP2Prot provides funding for printing of project posters and public relation.
